Who knew that fire-breathing legends had such great rhythm and fine motor skills? Our new pages feature a rather talented baby dragon exploring some fantastic indoor hobbies.
Your children can color this energetic baby dragon jamming out on a bongo drum, or switch gears to see one wearing an aviator scarf while building a wooden model airplane!
Coloring Tip - Contrasting Textures: Encourage your students or children to practice texture contrast. They can use smooth, bright, and glossy colors (like metallic gel pens or bright crayons) for the dragon's scales, and softer, earthy tones with light strokes for the wooden bongos and model airplane pieces.
Golems in folklore are typically animated beings created entirely from inanimate matter like clay or mud. In our collection, they are nothing short of sweet, nature-loving friends made of smooth river stones!
Our newest pebble golem page features this little buddy sitting on a tree stump, carefully weaving a beautiful basket out of spring vines.
Coloring Tip - Shading Stones: To make the golem's pebble body look truly three-dimensional, teach kids to leave a tiny white circle (a "highlight") near the top of each stone and press a little harder with their gray or brown crayon at the bottom to create a shadow. This simple shading trick makes rocks pop right off the page!
Rounding out our update digest, we have some incredibly focused friends working on their fine motor skills.
Underneath the waves, a baby kraken is using its many tentacles to solve a large jigsaw puzzle on the ocean floor. Meanwhile, up in the grassy meadows, a young griffin is carefully tying feathers and thick vines to weave a giant dreamcatcher.
In classical mythology, griffins are majestic creatures with the body, tail, and back legs of a lion, and the head and wings of an eagle. Traditionally known for guarding priceless treasures, our young griffin has found a much more relaxing way to spend the afternoon!
Coloring Tip - Underwater Atmosphere: For the deep-sea puzzle scene, try doing a "color wash." Kids can color the kraken and puzzle pieces normally, then lightly sweep the side of a light blue or teal crayon over the entire background to create a watery, underwater atmosphere.
