This week, our update digest focuses on two exciting new themes: deep-sea occupations and outdoor animal athletics. Our aquatic friends have been very busy this week! First up, we have a very important delivery happening under the sea.
Axolotls are entirely aquatic amphibians, meaning they spend their whole lives underwater. Our axolotl postman is making sure the ocean mail arrives on time!

Down on the sandy ocean floor, we also have a highly organized friend. Octopuses are incredibly intelligent invertebrates known to use tools and manipulate objects in their environment.

Moving from the ocean to the great outdoors, our animal friends are getting active!
Quokkas are native to Australia and are famous for their friendly, smiling faces. What better animal to host a sunny afternoon game of lawn bowling?
For a chillier sporting event, we are heading to the ice.
Walruses use their strong flippers to haul their heavy bodies out of the water and onto sea ice, so pushing a wooden sled is the perfect winter workout for this cozy fellow.
Since this week's update features so many aquatic and frosty environments, here are a few fresh coloring tips for parents and teachers:
* Creating Deep Water: To give depth to the ocean background for our axolotl postman or octopus, encourage kids to layer their colors. Start with a light blue base, add streaks of teal, and finish with a gentle touch of purple near the bottom of the page to show deeper water. * Coloring Snow: Snow isn't just white! To make the walrus's winter scene pop off the page, suggest adding faint shadows using pale blue or lavender crayons just under the sled and around the walrus. This gives the snow dimension and makes it look truly frosty. * Shiny Brass: For the axolotl captain's spyglass, use a mix of yellow and light brown, but leave a tiny white strip uncolored along the top edge. This creates an instant "shiny" reflection effect!
